ADVICE FOR SMALLER OFFICES
You have just read that your office furnishing is not big enough (for us) to make it feasible to buy. We are very sorry about that. Unfortunately, we are bound to a certain scale and quality in order to be able to cover the costs and pay the supplier a fair amount. Nevertheless, we would like to give you some advice and tips to perhaps help you further.
Possible solutions for surplus office furniture:
- Offering office furniture to employees. Often the office furniture is already written off and has no value for the company anymore. Instead of throwing it away, you can also give it to the employees. They can perhaps use it for a home workplace or hobby office. The starting point remains that it is in good condition and ergonomically sound. Otherwise you will soon have to deal with increased absenteeism because colleagues have ergonomic complaints.
- If your office furniture has not yet been written off and you want to give it away to employees, this "gift" may fall under the Work Costs Scheme (WKR). Ask your accountant about the (im)possibilities.
- Assuming you have purchased new office furniture, you can ask the seller if they would like to dispose of the old office furniture.
- Place the office furniture (in time) on a sales website such as Marktplaats. Make an advertisement for each item, add the dimensions and characteristics and take good photos. This together with a fair price ensures that you get rid of the items faster, get some money for them and that they are picked up. This relieves you of your worries and that is also worth something.
- If you receive a buyer, also bring to his/her attention the other items you have for sale. We have experienced ourselves several times that people "buy something else". After all, they are there anyway.
- Do the neighbors (in the office building) need anything? Just ask. Feel free to ask.
- Call the thrift store to ask if they want to come and pick up the items. They don't always do this anymore, but you can always try.
- If all else fails (or you don't want to), the last option is to take the items to the dump or place a container to dispose of everything.
We wish you the best of luck in finding a solution and hopefully we have been able to help you a little.
